Pat (Cummins) is more of an old-fashioned Test match captain where he kind of sets the field and lets the plans kind of unfold and is happy to do that for long periods of time, whereas Stokes is a bit the opposite.
He tries to make every ball something happens and that’s why sometimes plans don’t get a chance to happen, Ponting added.
Having become team captain after Tim Paine’s sudden resignation before the start of the 2021 Ashes, Cummins has been successful in his captaincy duties.
